ABOUT

JAMIE

Passionate About Inspiring Others

Pittsburgh-based Licensed Professional Counselor, Jamie Cocuzzi Harkins, is a therapist specializing in helping young adults and adults with the challenges of personal relationships, gender and sexuality concerns, life transitions, and emotional hardship. Jamie has been serving clients in the greater Pittsburgh area for more than 15 years. Her practice is built on the belief that therapy allows each person an opportunity to be more compassionate and loving toward oneself, which in turn influences their relationships with others, and with the world around them.

Jamie is licensed to provide treatment in both Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Washington DC as both a Professional Counselor and a Clinical Mental Health Counselor . She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with minors in both Sociology and Women & Gender Studies from Duquesne University. While attending graduate school she worked full-time in variety of social service roles with teenagers and young adults, many of whom were displaced from their homes and in need of intensive support. Jamie pursued a Master’s Degree in Counselor Education at Duquesne University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Through internships and full time employment, Jamie has worked in 7 area school districts, as well as community mental health agencies, a group practice, and a psychiatric hospital. She started her solo private practice in 2017.

Jamie’s goal is to provide an environment of understanding, encouragement, and hope to help each person work through overwhelming, stressful, or confusing life situations. She believes that walking beside people in their difficult times is empowering, and allows a person to build a strong sense of self and reach their goals.

Outside of the office, Jamie spends her time rooting on the Pittsburgh teams, going to concerts with her partner, playing with her dog, limbering up in yoga classes, and socializing with friends.
